Global problems are addressed best by applying universal education. As the world becomes independent, higher education is one of the providers of knowledge and the bearer of change. Education for sustainable development is not only about green areas or recycling in campuses, universities, or colleges. It is about universities and colleges organizing partnerships and cooperating worldwide. Besides, more and more students are convinced that higher education is important to obtain sustainable development goals. Besides, the learners would maybe even be more willing to obtain a degree if they had a chance to enrol in study programs related to higher sustainability. As the provider of knowledge, higher education should play a crucial role in solving the issues connected to sustainability to achieve sustainable development goals.

Thus, education of all levels and all types should help all citizens partaking in the current society in thinking and behaving in the right way towards a more sustainable planet. In fact, more and more teaching programs and courses in universities and colleges are designed for causes supporting sustainable development. Learning targets, suggestions, approaches, subjects, and activities should be aimed at and redesigned based on each sustainable development goal. No matter the discipline, education must be reinvented, and the aim of the educational system should be to help people conduct a more sustainable lifestyle. Higher education should thus supply students with skills for a sustainable future such as critical thinking on recycling, global warming or even citizenship. Moreover, disciplinary boundaries might result in something dividing these disciplines; these borders should be knocked down to achieve sustainable development for all disciplines. Higher education has a crucial role in developing programs and revolutionizing their entire institution to make radical changes today favouring sustainability.
